Elite: Spinners Help Dolphins Pick Up First Win

With the start of the season not going as they had hoped, Dolphins are still looking to pick up their first Elite win in team history and are looking to do it against the Centurions CC. Dolphins had lost the toss and Centurions CC had elected to bat first.

Skipper Armaan Kapoor had chosen to open the bowling with Javeid Rao and Taha Ali. Both bowlers provided a dream start for the Dolphins where at the end of the 6th over, Centurions CC were 1 for 3. This was a huge momentum builder and a start which the Dolphins were looking for.

After a 19 run partnership between Aaditya Varadarajan and Sajid Seedat, Dolphins broke through again, picking up the wicket of Aaditya which cued another collapse for the Centurions CC. Dolphins picked up 4 more wickets having the Centurions CC at 29 runs for 8.

Having the Centurions 29 for 8, Dolphins slowed their pace a little giving Sajid an opportunity to add runs to the total. Another wicket had fallen at 48 and the Centurions were all out for 50 runs. Dolphins put together an amazing bowling performance having 7 of the centurions batsmen for the score of 0 and another for the score of 1.

With a low total ahead of them, Dolphins Skipper Armaan Kapoor chose his usual openers to start the inning. Saad Nazar and Dhruv Patel started the inning with a 19 run partnership before Saad departed with a score of 11. Taha Ali stepped into the crease and pushed the pace of the score cruising their way to victory.

With the Dolphins being at 47 and needing 4 runs to win, Taha Ali was caught and headed back to the pavilion. He scored 19 off 23. With 4 runs to go Skipper Armaan Kapoor stepped onto the crease, leaving the first ball to get a taste of the pitch before launching a 6 the next ball to bring home the win.

This being the first of many wins, was a huge momentum builder for the team as the Dolphins were phenomenal in all aspects of the game regarding Bowling, Fielding and Batting.

Dolphins now look to continue their success next week against Go Green CC at Maple Leaf Cricket Grounds on Sunday, June 10, 2018.
