With a win already this weekend, the Dolphins knew coming into this game that a win would mean a clinched playoff spot. With that behind them, the Dolphins come into this game very motivated and eager to pick up a win against IndoPak Cricket Club. The IndoPak CC had won the toss and elected to bat first.
The Dolphins bowlers were very motivated to get the ball rolling as they had a great start right off the bat with Fawaz Alaziz and Safi Jalali bowling great, giving up a 1 to 2 runs an over and setting up the first change wonderfully as Umair Ali picked up the first wicket of the game. Quickly after, Safi picked up the 2nd wicket of the game and the Dolphins were ecstatic with the quick wickets.
With yet another change in the bowling, Skipper Taha Usmani brought himself in along with Ahmed Kamal. Taha picked up his first wicket and then brought in Hamza Hameed for the next over. The change worked perfectly as Hamza would go onto pick up his first wicket of the game. within the next 6 overs, Hamza would go onto picking up 2 more wickets, completely putting the batsmen under pressure.
Taha Usmani would go not picking up his 2nd wicket of the game as well and finished his spell of 8 overs, giving up only 17 runs while picking up 2 wickets. With 7 men down and only 3 more wickets to go, Umair Ali and Ahmed Kamal would come in to the attack to clean house with Umair picking up another wicket and Ahmed picking up 2. The Dolphins bowled out IndoPak for 87 runs in 38.1 overs.
The Dolphins bowled exceptionally well, bowling 177 dot balls out of the 229 deliveries bowled. Hamza Hameed led the Dolphins picking up 3 wickets with Taha Usmani, Umair Ali and Ahmed Kamal chipping in 2 each and Safi Jalali adding 1.
With a low total ahead of them to chase down, the Dolphins look to chase this down with ease. With Fayez Alaziz and Ahmed Kamal opening yet again, they looked to have a better start but unfortunately only partnered up for 10 runs before Ahmed departed scoring 1 run. With Shazray Haroon onto bat, him and Fayez look to add runs to the board taking away the momentum from IndoPak. This partnership was short-lived as the two had a 6 run partnership before Fayez departed scoring 9 runs.
Muneeb Ashfaq came onto bat and played sensibly, rotating the strike and adding runs to the board. Muneeb and Shazray partnered up for 42 runs before Shazray departed scoring 18 runs. With 30 runs to go, Ubair Fasihi stepped onto bat and to add runs to the board. Ubair scored 10 runs before he was run out. With Muneeb and Hamza Hameed now on the crease, they look to chase the total down as there are less than 20 runs required.
Hamza and Muneeb kept pushing the score forward moving closer to the total before Muneeb departed scoring a team high 28 runs. Safi Jalali came onto bat and the total was chased by Hamza Hameed hitting the winning runs and the Dolphins winning the game by 5 wickets and most importantly clinching a Playoffs spot.
The Dolphins are now on top of the leaderboard in Division 3 and look forward to continuing their winning streak next week against Alliance Cricket Club.
